During his tenure at Austin High School, Tanner has made his vision a reality in terms of students entering a 4 year college. Alfredo Borrego was appointed by the Board of Trustees in June 2010 to replace Carlos Flores, who had resigned earlier in the year. He was officially sworn in July 13. Borrego will represent campuses in the Austin high school feeder pattern.
For the last 20 years Borrego has been a business owner in El Paso. He has been active with the EPISD community for many years having served on the Board of the EPISD Council of PTA's, the 2000 and 2003 Bond Accountability Committees and the VIPS & Non-Exempt Employee Committee. He was also a PTA board member at Hawkins Elementary and Ross Middle School (1996-2004). He currently is a board member of the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation.
Borrego, a Burges High School graduate, has been president of the San Juan Neighborhood Association since August 2008.
